Nuclear Energy R&D Program

Designed to contribute to the development of core nuclear energy technologies to provide safe nuclear energy as environmentally friendly energy for next generation

Funded Fields : Development of nuclear energy and radiation technologies for securing safe energy and solving social problems

Funded Period : 1 ~ 9 years

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : Total KRW 209 billion

Radiation Technology Development Program

To Promote the advancement of national science and technology by early securing core technology of radiation, promote national health and strengthen competitiveness of national industry

Funded Fields : Radiation

Funded Period : 2 year/ 3 years/ 5 years(2+3)

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : KRW 35,358 million (2018)

International Cooperation Program for Space and Nuclear Energy

Designed to create international atmosphere and strengthen international cooperation for obtaining future core space and nuclear energy technologies, thus laying a foundation for the overseas expansion of Korean space and nuclear energy technologies

Funded Fields : Global cooperation in the nuclear arena(bilateral/multilateral), export of related technologies etc.

Funded Period : 1 year/ 3 years/ 5 years(3+2)/ 9 years

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : Total KRW 7.6 billion

Nuclear Energy Technology Development Program

Aimed to establish nuclear technologies to increase public reliability and advance nuclear technology in order to lead the field of nuclear energy technologies

Funded Fields : Nuclear safety, future reactor system, fuel cycle, nuclear fundamental technology

Funded Period : 3 years/ 5 years(3+2, 2+3)/ 9 years(4+2+3)

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : Total KRW 114.1 billion

Nuclear Energy Research Infrastructure Expansion Program

Designed to enhance research infrastructure in terms of human resources and facilities in order to improve national competitiveness in nuclear energy R&D by establishing and modernizing nuclear research facilities, training future human resources, and supporting creative basic research in nuclear energy

Funded Fields : Establishment and operation of research facilities and equipment, joint utilization of research facilities, core basic research for nuclear energy, and the education of researchers

Funded Period : 1 ~ 5 years

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : Total KRW 8.4 billion
*This program will be terminated on 2019, there will be no more new projects which are supported by this program.

Planning & Evaluation Program for Nuclear Energy R&D

Aimed at supporting to plan and evaluate nuclear energy R&D programs

Funded Fields : Management of Nuclear energy R&D program

Funded Period : 1 year

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.
* Eligible ONLY for subordinate program, i.e. Planning program

Budget : Total KRW 3.6 billion(1 billion for Planning program)

Radiological Research Infrastructure Support Program

To enlarge and activate research infrastructure for national radiological use through the construction of related equipments such as testing and efficiency evaluation facilities in the field of Radiation, the connection of technology information network and the education of professional manpower

Funded Fields : Radiation

Funded Period : From 2011 to 2018

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, public and private institutions (based on Nuclear Energy Promotion Act)

Budget : KRW 24,815 million (2018)

Joint R&D Program for SMART enhancement

Aimed to promote the export of SMART nuclear reactor by reflecting technological and environmental requirements of potential clients overseas

Funded Fields : Technologices for SMART nuclear reactor

Funded Period : 3 years

Eligibility : Research institues

Budget : Total KRW 6.8 billion

Nuclear Safety Research Expert Training Program

Designed to operate education and training programs to nurture researchers in the field of nuclear safety, in accordance with energy conversion policy and nuclear industry development strategy

Funded Fields : Education and training programs for future generation

Funded Period : 2 ~ 4 years

Eligibility : Researchers in universities, research institutes, companies and so on.

Budget : Total KRW 1.6 billion
