Beginning Independent Researcher Program

Cultivate the basic research capacity of researchers through individual-level research support and assist with the advancement and development of research

Research areas: All S&T areas

Eligibility: Full-time faculty in S&E areas at four-year universities who have not received a grant from a basic research program and who have obtained a doctoral degree within the last 7 years or are aged 39 or younger

Summary: Expand research opportunities for young researchers with outstanding research capacity and encourage them to achieve early progress on their research

Period: 1–3 years

Funding: Annual average of up to KRW 30 million (USD 27 thousand*)

 * approximation based on exchange rate of 1 USD = 1,100 KRW
