Dear Concern,

Recently, I got an F5 visa Status in Korea. I have One Question regarding applying for Brain Pool overseas Program and another for Basic Research Grant.

1) If I go overseas (home Country or another Country) during the period of applying for BP, can I be eligible to apply for Type 1 and Type 2 with my Permanent residentship Status?

2) Secondly, If I get the NRF basic research grant then can I go abroad and conduct research? If yes then how much time I can stay abroad and then come back to join the Project? And can I continue my research during my stay at ABorad?

Dear Mr. Muhammad,

Thank you for your queries.

Please check out the answers for your questions.

1) If I go overseas (home Country or another Country) during the period of applying for BP,
can I be eligible to apply for Type 1 and Type 2 with my Permanent residentship Status?
-> Yes, Ph.D. conferred scientist who is living outisde of South Korea is eligible for the BP program.
In addition, your visa status seems completely okay to apply for the program.

2) Secondly, If I get the NRF basic research grant then can I go abroad and conduct research?
If yes then how much time I can stay abroad and then come back to join the Project?
And can I continue my research during my stay at ABorad?

-> Since the goal of the BP program is to enhance the R&D level of Korea through joint research activities,

overseas scientist must enter Korea and commence the Project within four months from the date of final selection.
Regarding conducting the basic research abroad, please ask the respective team about the details.

Thank you.

Regards,
